Boy, I am getting bombarded with information on the flu here at work. The American Red Cross sent out a New Release yesterday urging everyone to get their flu shot now!! I got mine at the beginning of the cold and flu season, so I am set!! Of course they say some of the best ways to avoid the flu are to wash your hands often, especially after coughing or sneezing. Also avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth and avoid close contact with people who are sick. Finally stay home if you are sick!
Then I received an email on finding a flu remedy right in your own cupboard!! Yea, powerful "hot" spices have been used for centuries to knock out a variety of cold weather ailments such as influenza, bronchitis, sinus troubles and even common cold symptoms. Here are some ideas:
Sore Throat: Clove and cinnamon stick tea with raw honey
Intestinal flu and upset stomach: fresh ginger root tea
Colds and congestion: the hottest spice in your cupboard -- thyme, oregano or cumin
Sinus trouble: hot spices that also drain like horseradish and/or oregano
Flu: raw honey with fresh lemon five times daily plus hot organic chicken soup with thyme and oregano
Steam remedy for cold and flu: boil a pot of garlic and onions and breathe; then add to soup and consume!
These all come from Dr. Cass Ingram. He has dozens of books on home remedies out including The Cure is in the Cupboard!
