Holiday Hangover......

Boy, now the real craziness begins!!
Now that Christmas has come and gone, it's time to head back to the mall -- to deal with returns.
According to a recent survey, 49 percent of shoppers say they are going back to the stores. While some are hitting the post-holiday sales, others are looking to return gifts.
Brace yourself. Stores are tired of getting ripped off -- and trying desperately to hold onto the money they earned over the Christmas shopping season -- so they are going to have people jumping through more hoops than normal during the returns process.
Some restrictions to look out for:
shortened return periods
no cash back -- only store credit
no refunds at all
restocking fees
some serial returners being blacklisted
So, make sure you guard your gift receipts with your life. They often make the difference between cash back and a credit at the store.

What will be your New Years Resolution?

Here are some common choices:
Spend more time with family and friends
Lose weight
Quit smoking
Enjoy life more
Quit drinking
Get out of debt
Learn something new
Help others
Get organized
What will you choose to do?

Please STOP playing "Baby"!!

I love this story....A Chicago high school did a fundraiser that would embarrass Justin Bieber. The school played Justin's hit "Baby" over the loudspeakers in between classes...and students had to donate money to make the music stop. The song was played for one week...or until $1000 in donations was raised. Within 3 days, students came up with enough cash to make the song STOP! Ha ha!

No 'Effin' way!

A flustered woman is spitting four letter words at the administrators of Facebook after they refused to allow her to mention her hometown -- Effin, Ireland.
Ann Marie Kennedy, who joined the social networking site in June, says that she's being discriminated against because some folks use her town's name as shorthand for a frowned upon four-letter word. She says "I'm a proud Effin woman. There are other Effin people around the world, and they want to put down that Effin is their home town."
Facebook is reportedly taking a new look at its Effin decision.

It's a Miracle!!

Do you believe in miracles? Monique Van der Vorst certainly does. She is a 27-year-old Dutch handcyclist and has been paralyzed from the hip down since the age of 13. While training for the 2012 Paralympics, she got into an accident that would change her life forever. Another handcyclist hit her, landing her in the hospital. While recovering, the strangest thing happened ... her feet started tingling! No, this isn't the plot of a new feel good movie -- this is real life! Her accident actually unparalyzed her!

Another shooting at VA Tech

Gun violence at Virginia Tech left a police officer and his alleged assailant dead yesterday (Thursday), but it wasn't nearly as bad as the 2007 shooting rampage at the campus, which remains the deadliest in modern U.S. history.
In a strange coincidence, the latest shooting took place on the same day Virginia Tech officials were in Washington, D.C., arguing over a government fine for their alleged mishandling of the 2007 incident.
Although the alleged shooter turned the gun on himself shortly after killing the officer, the school's high-tech alert system warning students and faculty members to stay indoors effectively locked down the campus this time.

Oh boy, one of my favorite show, Mythbusters, had a big boo boo happen.

A cannonball experiment went astray the other day in the Northern California city of Dublin, wreaking havoc on a neighborhood. It bounced off the sidewalk and went through the front door of a family's home, past a sleeping couple, leaving a 10-inch hole in a bedroom wall, hit the roof of another home and then bounced across the street and went through the window of a minivan.
The cannonball was supposed to hit a few water-filled barrels and a concrete wall, but missed its target. According to Alameda County Sheriff Sergeant J.D. Nelson, who is also a consultant on the show, producers have shot off the same cannon at a firing range near that neighborhood 50 times without incident.

What a huge Hollywood loss!

Harry Morgan, one of TV's busiest character actors, died Wednesday in L.A. at age 96.

Best known as Colonel Potter in MASH and Bill Gannon in both the '60s version of Dragnet and its 1987 movie spoof, the Detroit native was known for his wry smile, baritone voice and easy, self-depreciating humor. He had such a recognizable voice and warm feel about him. He will be missed!

Poor Alec!

Alec Baldwin was kicked off a plane yesterday at Los Angeles International airport after he refused to stop playing a game on his cellphone.

I got his tweet yesterday; "Flight attendant on American reamed me out for playing Words With Friends while we sat at the gate, not movin'." He ended up taking a later flight on the airline, but wrote, "Last flight with American -- where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950s find jobs as flight attendants."

In a statement, the actor's rep confirmed, "Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing Words With Friends while parked at the gate. He loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it, but he has already boarded another AA flight."

Alec joins a growing list of celebs who've been kicked off planes. Earlier this week, country singer John Rich was booted from a Southwest flight after he displayed "drunken behavior." Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong was removed, also from Southwest, in September for wearing sagging pants, and director Kevin Smith made headlines last year when he was deemed "too fat to fly," also by Southwest.

Pearl Harbor...70 years ago?!

Navy veteran Lou Gore was startled by the muffled thuds of explosions and a burst of commotion while cleaning up from breakfast below deck on the USS Phoenix, a cruiser docked at Pearl Harbor.

Hurrying topside, the 18-year-old seaman second-class was confronted by pandemonium he was unable to immediately comprehend -- flames shooting skyward, roiling clouds of dark, acrid smoke, swarms of fighter-bombers buzzing low overhead. That was 70 years ago today......How scary for an 18 year old....read more about Lou and other stories at MSN.com.

Kate
Gosselin ran her first marathon Sunday in Las Vegas -- as a life lesson for her eight kids. Before the race, which she finished in five hours, Kate told People magazine, "I'm running this because I want to show that with dedication and determination anything is possible. I want them to remember this moment when their mom completed a marathon, knowing that nothing in life should stop them from attaining their goals." But she added, "This will probably be one of the most painful messages I will ever impart to them."
