We lost 2 amazing songwriters this past weekend.

The music world lost two legendary songwriters yesterday with the deaths of Jerry Leiber and Nick Ashford. Both were part of iconic songwriting duos.
Leiber, the lyricist who teamed with Mike Stoller to write a library full of rock-era classics, including "Hound Dog," "Stand by Me," "Jailhouse Rock," "Kansas City," "On Broadway" and "Yakety Yak," died of cardiopulmonary failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 78.
Ashford, who with his wife and partner Valerie Simpson, penned such Motown classics as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "You're All I Need to Get By" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," died of throat cancer in New York. He was 70.
