YUM, it's Breakfast in a glass!!

This sure sounds tasty and looks good too!! I am sure your kids would like it as well!! Give it a try!!

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup strawberries
  • 1/3 cup nonfat milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) container nonfat plain yogurt

Directions

  1. In a blender, combine banana, strawberries, milk and yogurt. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.

Heavenly House?

Wow, this is one 'treehouse'! He saw a vision in 1993. He said one day when he was praying, God came to him and asked him to build a treehouse and he would never run out of materials! The treehouse has 10 floors, around 260,000 nails have been used and he has invested close to $12,000 as well. Here is a site offering some great pics!

Apple Bread - YUM!

Tis the Apple Season...try making some tasty Apple Bread! I can smell it right now!!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups apples - peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup broken walnuts

Directions

  1. In bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder and salt; set aside. In large mixing bowl, place oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla and apples. Stir into flour mixture. Add walnuts and mix. Divided mixture between two greased 8-in. x 4-in. bread pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until bread test done. Cool for 10 minutes on wire rack before removing from pan.

Oktoberfest Fun!!

Well, it has started!! The 50th Celebration of Oktoberfest is underway and I hope you enjoy it to the fullest! Just be safe about it and have a designated driver lined up - ok? Pepsi, Candlewood Suites, Charter, Gundersen Lutheran and Magic 105 are a sponsor!! Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cherry juice
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer

Directions

  1. Pour cherry juice into a 16 ounce glass; pour in beer. Drink!

The annoucements was made yesterday...are you surprised by the results? Randy Jackson will be joined by Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Just the 3...Hmmm...Steven is kind of hard to look at, so it may be painful, but I will give it a shot.

Oktoberfest and Beer Recipes!!

Friday we begin celebrating 50 years of Oktoberfest so why not start the fun with some recipes that include an Oktoberfest staple - BEER!!
Check out this recipe...Beer Roasted Lime Chicken!

Ingredients

  • 1 (4 pound) whole chicken
  • 1 tablespoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 lime, halved
  • 1/2 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Season the chicken inside and out with salt and pepper. Squeeze the juice from the lime over the whole chicken, then place the halves into the cavity of the chicken. Set the half full beer can in the center of a roasting pan or baking dish, and place the chicken over it in an upright position with the beer inserted into the cavity. Pour water into the bottom of the pan. Cover the chicken with aluminum foil, and place roasting pan and all into the oven.
  3. Roast the chicken for about 1 1/2 hours in the preheated oven, removing foil during the last 20 minutes. Baste occasionally with the drippings. When finished, the internal temperature of the chicken should be 180 degrees F (80 degrees C) when taken in the meatiest part of the thigh. Let the chicken rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

We are supposed to find out today who the judges are for the next season of Amercan Idol. It looks like Randy Jackson has signed a multi-year deal and will be apart of the show...will J-lo be on board as well? We shall see!

He was terrible from what I heard and he seems to think he is still as 'hot' as he was back in his Baywatch days.....nah.....really Hoff! Who do you think will be the next to go? YUM & easy!

This looks easy and tasty!! Prep time is 10 minutes and it will be ready to eat in 25!! So very quick and kid friendly!

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) can Pillsbury® Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
  • 8 thin slices cooked ham
  • 4 thin slices Cheddar cheese, cut into strips

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Separate dough into 8 triangles. Place 1 piece of ham on each triangle; place 2 strips of cheese down center of ham. Fold in edges of ham to match shape of dough triangle.
  2. Roll up each crescent, ending at tip of triangle. Place with tips down on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 15 to 19 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.

Dancin' with the Stars....11th Season!?

Wow, 11 seasons already...I really have not watched one whole season, but many of my co-workers and family members do like it. Well, there is quite a line-up, quite a mix of personalities and talent. The Hoff, Brandy, The Situation, Michael Bolton, Florence Henderson, Bristol Palin and more gave it their all...some of it was good and some was really bad!! Here is a review of each dancer!

A warrant is out for Lindsay!

It just never ends for her! She admitted that she failed a drug test and now a judge has issued a warrant for her arrest! Duh girl, it is apart of the deal...fall off and it's back to jail! Here's the story!

The real Lynyrd Skynyrd has died!

Leonard Skinner, the basketball coach and gym teacher who inspired the name of the southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd has died. He had been suffering from Alzheimers and passed away in his sleep at a nursing home.
It all started years ago when he sent the boys to the principals office because they had long hair. I was a school rule that boys had to have short hair. Read the complete story here!

Cola Pork Chops? YUM!

"This is a tried and true recipe for pork chops, but it works great using chicken too. With chicken, cooking time is more like 40 minutes for thick breasts."
I have to try this...I have heard cola's have an amazing effect on the tenderness of the meat!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 8 pork chops
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Mix together the ketchup, cola and brown sugar.
  3. Place pork chops into a baking pan and pour cola mixture over, coating well. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Bake for about one hour depending on the thickness of the pork chop.

Happy Applefest!! Try 'Apple Pike'!

Does this look fab or what? It's a combination of Apple Pie and Apple Cake!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 5 apples, cored and chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Mix together the flour and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir in the eggs until well blended, then fold in the apples. Pour into a greased 9 inch pie plate.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Todays Recipe!

Try Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese! It only tales 10 minutes to prepare it and 45 minutes to bake and get it on the table!

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package elbow macaroni
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (12 ounce) container small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil, add pasta, and cook until done; drain.
  2. In 9x13 inch baking dish, stir together macaroni, shredded Cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. In a small bowl, mix together bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle topping over macaroni mixture.
  3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until top is golden.

Oh, try this recipe!

It's Meatball Nirvana and it will only take 40 minutes to get it on the table!

"These meatballs are a compilation of many, many meatball recipes to finally achieve what I was looking for... Meatball Nirvana! Cover with your favorite red sauce and serve with pasta or in crusty garlic bread rolls."

Ingredients

1 pound extra lean ground beef

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 small onion, diced

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

3/4 teaspoon dried oregano

3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 dash hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), or to taste

1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/3 cup skim milk

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Directions

Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Place the beef into a mixing bowl, and season with salt, onion, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, oregano, red pepper flakes, hot pepper sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; mix well. Add the milk, Parmesan cheese, and bread crumbs. Mix until evenly blended, then form into 1 1/2-inch meatballs, and place onto a baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, 20 to 25 minutes.
