A conservation group called Sea Shepherd had a bow sheared off of one of it's boats during a clash with a Japanese whaling vessel in the frigid waters of Antartica. Clashes using hand-thrown stink bombs, ropes used to tangle props and high-tech sound equipment have been common in recent years and collisions between the ships have happened as well.
