There is a college course being offered at Georgetown University covering her husband Jay-Z's music and career....really and now Rutgers University is offering a course about Beyonce! It is being used to explore American race, gender and sexual politics. Some of the topics that will be covered include whether her racy performances are empowering or stereotypical and also the extent of Beyonce's control over her own aesthetic and her alter ego, Sasha Fierce. I am not sure what career this could be applied too...thoughts?

They have been together for 7 years and seemed to be such a strong, loving couple. They are saying the reason is 'irreconcilable differences', that seems to be the standard 'Hollywood' reasoning.....Seal started the rumor over the weekend with the tweet that said "The End," attached to a picture of his forearm bearing an imprint of a set of wings - a possible reference to Klum as a Victoria's Secret winged "Angel" model. I know they have a couple children together and they say the split is amicable.

CBS yesterday announced the 18 new castaways that will compete on the 24th edition of Survivor, this season titled Survivor: One World. Gone this time is the controversial Redemption Island, but in a new twist, for the first time the two tribes, which will be men (Manono Tribe) vs. women (Salani Tribe), will live together at the same camp. As for the competitors, this season will feature the show's first little person, 34-year-old Leif Manson, with the oldest competitor being 64-year-old Houston plastic surgeon Greg Smith, and the youngest being 21-year-old college student Colton Cumbie.
Survivor: One World premieres Wednesday, February 15th. Click here for more information on this season's castaways.

What a complete idiot!
It sounds like Mark Wahlberg is having a hard time distinguishing between fantasy and real-life. In an interview with Men's Journal, the action star says he was scheduled to be on the doomed September 11th flight from Boston to Los Angeles, but wound up leaving a week earlier. Still, Wahlberg believes that had he been on the flight, he would have been able to stop the attack on the World Trade Center. “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did," he told the mag. "There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’” The comment has outraged Deena Burnett-Bailey, whose husband Thomas Burnett died on United 93, but not before rushing the cockpit. Deena calls Mark's comments "disrespectful," telling TMZ, "Does Mark Wahlberg have a pilots' license? Then I think hindsight is 20/20 and it's insignificant to say what you would have done if you weren't there. " Wahlberg yesterday apologized for the comments. "To suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible," he told TMZ. "To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with. I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention."

Adele has been spotted smoking even though she promised herself and fans that she would quit after having a benign polyp removed from her vocal cords at the end of last year. Adele acknowledged that becoming a non-smoker was better for her voice, but she's fallen off the wagon and was seen smoking after dinner at Bobby Rubino's in Florida.

She was there with her new boyfriend Simon Konecki ... who we've now recently learned is married, but separated. By the way, Simon also reportedly has a 5-year-old daughter. Smoking is strictly a no-no after throat surgery and could delay her healing, causing her to cancel more concerts if she doesn't take care of her health and quit smoking.

Katy Perry has always thought of herself as a cartoon and now she'll get to see herself in digital form ... in a computer game. Perry and Electronic Arts announced a partnership today in which the singer will appear in multiple Sims games, starting with The Sims 3: Showtime – Collector's Edition in March.
"I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters — giving them different careers and watching them succeed," Perry said in a press release. Katy will also be featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for "The Sims." In a statement Katy said, "It's cool to see the Sims' stage performances in 'The Sims 3: Showtime' decked out just like my California Dreams Tour -- even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I'm a Sim!"
Perry worked with the Sims Studio to create accessories, clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props for the Sims game. The Katy Perry Collector's Edition includes an expansion pack and poster, as well as stage props, fashions and instruments inspired by the brightly-hued singer.

Despite the fact that she and her family are homeless and currently living in a shelter, 17-year-old Samantha Garvey has a 3.9 grade point average and was recently named a semifinalist in a national science competition for her marine biology research. If she wins the $100,000 prize, Garvey hopes she can help get her family their own place to call home. Garvey, who ranks fourth in her class and also studies Italian and plays the violin, says she’s always worked hard in school because she wants to create a better life for herself. She hopes her story inspires other young people in her situation. [Update: In even more good news, Suffolk County has found Garvey and her family rent-subsidized housing.]

'Beyonce' the Horse Fly?

Beyonce just had a rare horse fly named after her. As weird and ridiculous as that sounds, it's true ... an Australian scientist has given the name "Beyonce" to a rare horse fly because the fly's unique, golden bottom reminded them of the singer's.
A rep from Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization says, "It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly's abdomen that led me to name this fly in honor of the performer Beyonce," and says it is considered to be the "all-time diva of flies." The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly inhabits Australia's far north Queensland and was first collected by researchers in 1981, which also happens to be the year Beyonce was born. The scientist also said that by naming the fly in honor of a popular celebrity, it gives him "the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy — the naming of species."
Beyonce joins a small list of other celebrities who have had small creatures named after them. Sting has a frog — Hyla stingi — and Frank Zappa was the inspiration behind naming a rare spider species, Pachygnatha zappa.

Demi Lovato is putting her star power to good use and has just joined the fifth annual Teens For Jeans campaign. Lovato is teaming up with teen brand Aeropostale and action network Do Something to promote denim-focused clothing drives in schools across the nation. Jeans are the number one requested item for teens in homeless shelters, and with Lovato's help, the goal is to get jeans for every teen who needs them.

In a PSA for the campaign, the People Choice Awards "Favorite Pop Artist" winner says that the school that collects the most pairs of jeans between Jan. 16 and Feb. 12 will get $5,000 and Aeropostale jeans for every student.

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards were handed out last night and the big winner was The Artist, which won three awards - Best Comedy Film; Best Comedy Actor for Jean DuJardin and Best Score. As for Best Actress, Comedy, that award went to Michelle Williams for playing Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn. On the Drama side, The Descendants picked up two awards - Best Film and Best Actor for George Clooney (who had a particularly funny acceptance speech with regards to Michael Fassbender’s full frontal nudity in Shame). The always amazing Meryl Streep took home yet another award, this time Best Actress for playing Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. Other movie winners included: Christopher Plummer, Best Supporting Actor, Beginners; Octavia Spencer, Best Supporting Actress, The Help; Martin Scorsese, Best Director, Hugo; The Adventures of Tintin, Best Animated Feature; Woody Allen, Best Screenplay, Midnight in Paris and Madonna who won Best Original Song for “Masterpiece,” from her flick W.E. Katy Perry hasn't even been single for a month and her parents are already trying to hook her up with a new guy. Katy's parents reportedly want to set their daughter up with NFL star Tim Tebow following her split from Russell Brand. Katy's seriously religious parents, pastors Keith and Mary Hudson are said to be a fan of the Denver Broncos star because of his strong Christian faith. According to OK! magazine, they want to set them up on a date ... at their church. A source told the mag that Katy has mentioned on "more than one occasion how much she likes Tim." The source added that Perry's parents are trying to arrange for Katy to perform at their church around the same time they book Tebow to speak from the pulpit.

Adam Levine of Maroon 5, who is known for bashing award ceremonies, was actually present last night at the 2012 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles to receive the award for Favorite Band. Maroon 5 beat out rock bands like the Foo Fighters and Linkin Park to take home the award and honor. Levine, who is gearing up for a second season as a coach on The Voice, accepted the award saying "This is incredible ... thanks to our fans, the greatest fans on earth." He closed out his quick "thank you" by shouting out his parents saying, "Thanks to mom and dad for making me, that was cool."

Meanwhile, Demi Lovato was shocked to win the People's Choice Award for Favorite Pop Artist. While still out of breath after performing "Give Your Heart a Break," Demi accepted the award and said she couldn't believe she was chosen over four other artists she was a huge fan of. Lovato was chosen over Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna for the win.

While they were absent from the big awards show, Rihanna and Lady Gaga were big winners at last night's People's Choice Awards. Rihanna beat out Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, and Ne-Yo and was named Favorite R&B Artist. Lady Gaga's Born This Way was up against albums from Adele, Beyonce, Lady Antebellum, and Britney Spears ... but was named Favorite Album of the Year.

Although she backed out of her appearance at the show, Katy Perry won big ... taking the awards for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Music Video, Song of the Year, Favorite Tour Headliner, and Favorite TV Guest Star for her stint on How I Met Your Mother.

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott and drummer Chris Tyrrell have tied the knot! In a video posted to Lady Antebellum's official website, Chris shares the news saying, "I'd like to introduce you to Mrs. Hillary Scott Tyrrell." A rep for Lady Antebellum says the couple were married on Saturday in Upstate New York in front of family and close friends.

The video shows footage of Scott in her custom Vera Wang strapless mermaid dress with hand-applied crystal and pearl beading. Hillary's Lady Antebellum bandmates Charles Kelley and recently engaged Dave Haywood weren't able to make it to the intimate ceremony, but look forward to celebrating with the couple in the coming weeks.

Recently widowed Sarah Dawn McKinley took the law into her own hands on New Year's Eve when two men tried to break into her Blanchard, Oklahoma home.
Before pulling the trigger of her shotgun, McKinley moved a couch in front of a door, gave her three-month-old son a bottle, and called 911 to ask the operator if it was OK to fire her weapon in self-defense. After a 911 operator told her she could do whatever was necessary to protect herself, McKinley unloaded her 12-guage, killing Justin Shane Martin, who was attempting to enter her home, according to a Blanchard Police Department affidavit filed in court yesterday. McKinley won't be charged because she acted in self-defense, according to First Assistant District Attorney James Walters.

I love this story....A Chicago high school did a fundraiser that would embarrass Justin Bieber. The school played Justin's hit "Baby" over the loudspeakers in between classes...and students had to donate money to make the music stop. The song was played for one week...or until $1000 in donations was raised. Within 3 days, students came up with enough cash to make the song STOP! Ha ha!

A flustered woman is spitting four letter words at the administrators of Facebook after they refused to allow her to mention her hometown -- Effin, Ireland.
Ann Marie Kennedy, who joined the social networking site in June, says that she's being discriminated against because some folks use her town's name as shorthand for a frowned upon four-letter word. She says "I'm a proud Effin woman. There are other Effin people around the world, and they want to put down that Effin is their home town."
